Day 33: Wednesday potpourri

October 8, 2009

According to his Twitter, Fin Donnelly has Jack Layton visiting Saturday from 11 to 3 in New Westminster-Coquitlam.

Other than New Westminster-Coquitlam where the NDP and Liberals are active, Twitter has a limited role so far in the four by-elections.  Only the NDP and Greens in Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley are active elsewhere.  Twitter does not seem to have become a major political tool in French Canada yet, given the small number of Bloc MPs who tweet.

The Ken Beck Lee campaign appears to be gearing up for a major fundraiser.  On a related note, Michael Ignatieff may visit next week when he travels to Vancouver to address the Board of Trade next Tuesday.

Quote of the by-elections so far goes to Marlene Jennings, Saturday on CTV Question Period: “We have great candidates running… or if we don’t, we will.”

Pundits’ Guide has all the details on the unfolding developments in the Bloc nomination war in Hochelaga.  Of all four by-elections, this one is the least in question.  Whoever gets the Bloc nod will most likely headed to Parliament in five weeks time.
